Two Monday nights ago at Capitale down on the Bowery, they staged the annual Dressed to Kilt. Designed to publicize and promote Scotland, its art and commerce, it was begun by Dr. Geoffrey Carroll, a Scotsman living here in the U.S. What started out as a small but convivial party has grown into a enormous fund-raiser (for Scottish charities) and one of the most popular parties in New York.
I was a judge at this last one, for whatever that’s worth (nada). It was basically a fashion parade (with a lot of kilts) that teetered temptingly (?) on the brink of a frat house celebration. With a lot of cheering, laughs and applause. Afterwards the parties continued looooooonngg into the wee hours of the morning. Here’s a good look at the runway cast: |
