From Russia, Miami, and Palm Beach with Love

Helen Yarmak, the premier Russian fashion house in the U.S., hosted the official after-party for the Bolshoi Opera on opening night. The evening was hosted by the fashion house’s U.S. Representative Anna Kiladze, who said that this is “the beginning of Russia in the United States.” Guests included the former Miss Russia Ana Malova, Alexandre Gertsman, president of The International Foundation of Russian and Eastern European Art, artist Anton Perich, and Bolshoi Opera star Larissa Rudakova.

The international furrier designed a special collection “Russia” which was showcased at the event where some of the attendees — Ines Misan, Inna DeSilva, event planner Alison Minton, Jennifer Ellsworth and Sharon Elkayam tried on the samples.

Ms. Yarmak received the Global Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2000 and was named International Designer of the Year in 2003. Her luxury furs and jewelry collections are vital representations of blending Russian and American styles and culture.

Last Saturday in Miami The Secrets of Charm fashion house showcased its Spring/Summer 2006 collection at the second annual Dewar’s 12 Charity Poker Tournament benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami. Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees hosted the more than 500 poker enthusiasts who spent the evening with an elite group of guests at a waterfront residence on the prestigious, private island of Indian Creek Village.

Jay-Z, Beyonce, rappers Pharell and Pitbull, along with Sammy Sosa, Steven Bower, Tom Brady, Jeremy Shockey, Desmond Howard and Evander Holyfield enjoyed a designer showcase by New York-based label Secrets of Charm as one of the line’s designers Estee Elkayam sat proudly amongst the night’s players. The label’s other designer Sharon Elkayam stayed in New York to attend the Bolshoi Ballet after party hosted by Russia’s premier furrier Helen Yarmak.

The Secrets of Charm founders, Estee and Sharon Elkayam are sisters who with their New York-based team were thrilled to feature this collection in their hometown of Miami. The night served as a star-studded prep to their Fall 2006 debut fashion show and tea at Doubles on February 2.

Stakes were high at the tournament as more than 80 of South Florida’s poker champs battled it out in a single elimination Texas Hold’em tournament.  The winner, Marc Hambroff, took home a one-year lease on a Mercedes-Benz C230WZ courtesy of Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz. Other guests enjoying the array of showgirls and dancers giving the evening true Las Vegas flamboyance were Oakland Angels Baseball Player Alex Ochoa, NBA Basketball Player Glenn Rice and his wife Christina, Saudia Arabian Royals Sheikh Faisal and Sheikh Badder, Michael Capponi, Erin Henry, Willy Bermello Jr., Alexia Bermello, Willy Bermello Jr., Erika Quattrocchi, Yissel Cabrera, Estee Benitah, Ashley Fels, Eddie Rodriguez, Javier Gonzalez, and Joe Santos.  

The night raised more than $70,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami, which is committed to serving children from all economic levels of society. It is especially important to serve children from disadvantaged neighborhoods and provide them with programs that enrich the lives of children in this community.

At the beginning of this month, nearly 300 guests were  treated to an evening of elegance at the 27th Annual Gala “Mistletoe Magic” benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County at the Breakers. 

The event was hosted by Chairmen Marilyn and Emmet Tracy. Arrivals were greeted  by members of the Boys & Girls Clubs with handshakes and the singing of holiday carols. The evening began with a silent auction, which featured “designer trunks” decorated by local designers and artists. Afterwards there was dinner and dancing to the sounds of the Alex Donner Orchestra had the crowd in the Venetian Ballroom in fine holiday form.
